Based at Kempton Park Country Club, Annelize was coached in her early days by Phillip Schelbusch and Jean Grainger. Their work took Annelize to national titles at various junior levels before she moved to Amsterdam and eventually took on Dutch nationality and become a fixture in their national team.
She may be slight of frame but has a great competitive instinct aligned to quality shot-making.
She is well known amongst WISPA Tour players for her drumming, and professes to collect drumsticks from stars whose concerts she attends! She also loves extreme sports and regularly bunjee jumps and goes mountain biking. It is only squash that stands in the way of her indulging in more hair raising sports!
Annelize won her second Dutch National title in February 2008, but this time beating her long-time national rival Vanessa Atkinson – the favourite – in the final.
Later in the month, appearing in her 12th WISPA World Tour final at the Internationaux de Creteil in France, she beat England’s Lauren Siddall to win the fourth title of her career.
It was in January 2006 that Annelize celebrated her best ever world ranking of 13 which has since slowly subsided as she has also spent time acting as Harrow racket distributor in Netherlands. However she did find time to win two local WISPA Tour titles in Eindhoven during 2009.
