OTHER Sarah has been another top thirty regular for the last couple of years. The 27 year old England International from Chester has been creeping gradually closer to the exclusive top twenty club for the last 12 months and finally made the breakthrough in this month’s rankings.
She reached her 13th tour final back in February at the Dayton Open, losing out to Kasey Brown in the climax. Sarah came through two tough opponents in Annie Au and Low Wee Wern to qualify for the Malaysian Open main draw before again losing out to Kasey Brown.
Her first big win came at the Cayman Islands Open with a mammoth 3-2 win over Samantha Teran, she went on to push Rachel Grinham in the quarter finals. Sarah had some mixed results throughout the rest of the year but her year was highlighted by a first appearance in the Commonweath Games. She lost to team mate Jenny Duncalf in the last 16 of the singles and also participated in the doubles and mixed doubles. Her 2011 season began in style with consecutive quarter final appearances at the Greenwich and Cleveland Opens. On both occasions she took out former number one Vanessa Atkinson in the first round. These two wins helped her reach a current career high of nineteen.
2010 tour win-loss record: 13-13
Career titles: 7
