OTHER Orla blends Ireland and Netherlands as her mother Irish, father Dutch. But Netherlands is where she has grown up.

After playing tennis and horse riding she started playing squash aged ten because her parents both played. Initially she was coached by Jason Morris at Meersquash in Hoofddorp but after four years her talent encouraged her to decide to try and go further and so she moved on to be coached by Liz Irving in Amsterdam.

Working with Liz Irving has been her regime for several years now, and she says she hopes to continue working with her until she stops playing competitively.

As a junior she won several events and played for her country in five European / World Junior events and has become a regular for the Dutch senior team.

Orla enhanced her reputation as a rising star by winning her first WISPA Tour event in 2006, the Open De LA Cite in France.

She still lives in Hoofddorp but spends most of my time in Amsterdam. Besides squash she is studying (sports)management and economics at the Johan Cruyff University which she successfully finished in June 2007.

Interests outside squash are varied; music - going to concerts, cinema, shopping, jet skiing, tennis, basketball..... and basically all other sports!
