Since 2009, the 25 year old Malaysian number three has been a permanent fixture in the World top thirty. Her debut into the top twenty came in October 2010 after some strong results throughout the year.
She reached the quarter finals in the Texas Open after taking out Mexican number 1 Samantha Teran in the first round. She cemented herself as a regular fixture at the major tournaments and began pushing the likes of Madeline Perry, Alison Waters and Jenny Duncalf to the limit. Delia also collected her sixth career title in Kuwait in October and ended the year with a semi final run in Seoul.
Arguably Delia’s biggest achievement in 2010 came when she played a key part in the Malaysian team in the Women’s World Team Championships in New Zealand. A grueling 80 minute marathon over classy Egyptian Engy Kheirallah clinched the Malaysians a place in the Semi Finals. Australia however proved too strong in the semi final but a fine win against New Zealand saw Malaysia clinch a best ever 3rd place.
Delia also represented Malaysia in Delhi at the Commonwealth Games. She lost out to Kasey Brown in the last sixteen and in the women’s doubles quarter finals with partner Sharon Wee.
